The huge rounded mass of the Dome du Gouter rises 14,210 feet, its northern end cutting sharply away into the Aiguille du Gouter (12,609 feet). A route from Chamounix to Mont Blanc lies along the east base of the Gouter ridge to the Aiguille and a second route extends along the crest of the same ridge.
