Vintage Tuck's Oilette British Indian Art Artist Drawn Colour Old Picture Post Card, India. Memorial Well, CAWNPORE.

Over the arch of the Gothic wall surrounding the last resting-place of 125 women slaughtered by the rebels and cast into the well, are recorded the words - These are they which came out of great tribulation. Inside is the pure white marble statue of an angel, by Marochetti, with arms folded in resignation, each hand bearing a palm as an emblem of peace.
