India, The Bailey Bailee Guard Gate, Lucknow. Through this gate the road leads into the Residency at Lucknow, which sustained a memorable siege (11th June - 17th November 1857). Many sad scenes were here enacted of which we now think thankfully and proudly. The names of Sir Henry Lawrence and other brave men will never be forgotten.
