Hopi Native American Indian Women Carrying Water to TEWA Arizona US Old Postcard

Vintage Colour Picture Postcard. Ethnic Life. USA. Native American Red Indian Women Carrying Water to TEWA Arizona. Ariz. / The Unique Hopi Villages (or Pueblos) are perched on the tops of almost inaccessible mesas that rise some times as high as 350 feet above the surrounding plain. Their fields of grain, their orchards and their springs are all in the valleys below. To hoe his cornfield the Hopi must go down to the desert and some times miles from the mesa, to get to his wood he is compelled to go to the north and carry it back, for his water to the carefully guarded springs.
