Ceylon 40c 1957 Old Colour Postcard Sigiri, Lion Rock, Painted Woman with Flower

Vintage Colour Old Postcard. Ceylon Sri Lanka Ceylan. Woman holding Flowers. Sigiri (Lion Rock) is a unique ancient fortified City with Moats, Ramparts and Gateways. On the summit of the Rock, a rugged granite mass abruptly rising 600 ft. from the surrounding plain, dwelt King Kassapa I (478-496 A.D.). The western rock-face had been painted on and, in a natural cavern now ascended by a spiral stairway, are preserved 22 female figures.
