River Scene and Padda Boat. The most important river of Ceylon is the Mahavilla Ganga which has its source in the vicinity of Adam's Peak, and with its tributaries and connections drains an area of over 4,000 square miles. There are, of course, many others in the island, the majority of which are navigable. A padda boat is a craft of rough but clever construction by which much of the native river traffic is conducted.Postally Used in 1919 with British Indian King George 5th 1a stamp, addressed to Sevenoaks with arrival, redirected.
