Vintage Colour Picture Postcard, The Wadsworth Longfellow House, Portland, Maine. Portrait. / Built in the year 1785-86. The first brick building erected in Portland, owned and occupied by General Peleg Wadsworth of Revolutionary fame. This old brick mansion was for some time the home of Stephen Longfellow, the poet's father, who in 1804 married Zilpha, a daughter of General Wadsworth. It was during the process of extensive repairs, which necessitated the temmporary removal of the family to a house on Fore street, that the boy Henry was born. The family afterwards returned to the old mansion and it was here that America's greatest poet passed the early years of his life. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (February 27, 1807 March 24, 1882) was an American poet who wrote many poems that are still famous today, including The Song of Hiawatha and Evangeline. He also wrote the first American translation of Dante Alighieri's Hell (Inferno). Longfellow lived for most of his life in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in a house occupied during the American Revolution by Gen. George Washington and his staff.
He was the son of Stephen Longfellow and Zilpah Wadsworth Longfellow. He was born in Portland, Maine.

Vintage Colour Tuck's Oilette Picture Postcard. Titania's Palace, Hall of the Fairy Kiss (a) - The Chancery of the Most Industrious Order of the Fairy Kiss, showing the Insignia. The Staircase leads to the Minstrel Gallery, a portrait of H.M. Queen Alexandra hangs on the wall. The silver grilles above the entrance are put in to prevent the Fairy Princes and Princesses from playing pranks on the heads of the visitors. N.B. - Fairies can only be kept out by bars of gold or silver. Titania's Palace is a castle that was hand-built by James Hicks & Sons, Irish Cabinet Makers who were comissioned by Sir Neville Wilkinson from 1907 to 1922.
The palace consists of 18 rooms and salons, which contain hand-carved mahogany furniture. There are 3000 tiny works of art and miniatures from around the world on display inside the palace. The palace is no longer displayed in Legoland, Denmark.

Chiang Kai Shek, Chinese statesman and military leader, joined Dr. Sun Yat-sen's United Revolutionary League, forerunner of the Kuomintang (KMT). In 1942 he became the supreme commander of the Allied forces in the China theater.
Stalin (1879-1953), was the undisputed leader of the USSR from 1929 until his death. He helped to turn Russia into a great industrial nation, to defeat HITLER in WORLD WAR II.
