 | Item 59185 PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL & Coat of Arms 1909 Old Postcard Northamptonshire Vintage Colour Postcard. Peterborough Cathedral. Heraldic. Heraldry. A magnificent structure in the early Norman style. Considerable historical interest attaches to it, for here were buried the hapless Mary Queen of Scots and Catherine of Aragon, wife of Henry VIII, Monuments to their memory are features of the building, which has special beauty in the west front, with its graceful arches 80 feet high. Length, 470 feet, breadth 200. Sent from Peterborough to Cambridge. KE7 1/2d Peterborough Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Saint Andrew, and is very unusual amongst medieval cathedrals in Great Britain because of its triple front (dominated by the statues of the three saints) and overall asymmetrical appearance. Published by Valentine's Series
