Israel c1900 Old Postcard Jerusalem Tower of David

Davids Burg. Tours of David. No.452. The Tower of David is actually the minaret of a mosque built in the Ottoman period encompassing a couple of Towers, Walls, Ramps and Gardens by the Jaffa Gate entrance. It is said that Herod built the tower and there are still the remains of three towers since that time. The Mamluk rebuilt it in the 14th century, where King Bin-Qalawoon added a mosque in 1310 and fortified it. Another minaret was added to the mosque in 1531 by Sultan Suleiman the magnificent. Now the Citadel has been changed into a museum.
