Florida. / The Mountain Lake Singing Tower is located on the highest land in Florida and it is surrounded by 48 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. - The Sanctuary. The tower is built of Florida coquina rock and Georgia marble, and is 205 feet high and 51 feet in diameter at the base. The Carillon with 71 bells varying in weight from just a few pounds to about eleven tons, is one of the finest and largest ever cast. The beautiful Singing Tower, on the highest elevation in Florida, in beautifully landscaped grounds known as the Sanctuary, was a gift to the people by Mr. Edward W. Bok. The Singing Tower Carillon has 71 bells with 53 notes, or four and one-half octaves. The total weight of the bells is 123, 264 pounds. The tenor bell alone weighs 11 tons, and the smallest 12 pounds. All the remains of the ancient entrance to St. Augustine are the two solid square posts, not high enough to be called towers, flanked by a few feet Conquina Wall. This Old Spanish Gate was, at one time, a most formidable land approach, a guard house stood just within and a draw bridge crossed the moat. A dence growth of Spanish bayonet on the parapet made a passage impossible.

Flamingoes Birds chicks, and Nests at Hialeah Park, Miami, Fla. / The unique feature of Hialeah Park is its great flock of flamingos. These birds were imported from Cuba and South America and in 1939 for the first time, flamingos were raised to maturity in this country. That first season 62 birds were hatched at Hialeah and this year there were almost one hundred. The young birds are white and take on their rich coloring with maturity.
