Vintage Old Art Artist Drawn Postcard. By Winifred Austen. Animal. The Green Woodpecker Bird. (or Yaffle). Picus viridis pluvius. Is heard every spring and summer. It is a permanent resident in most wooded districts, making its nest in a dug-out hole in some tree, and lays 5 to 7 white eggs upon the wood chips inside. The make bird has the moustachial stripe crimson, in the female it is black. Length 12 1/2.
