Background: Chanak Crisis (Chanak Affair) occurred in September 1922. British and French troops stationed near Çanakkale (Chanak) to guard the neutral zone of the Dardanelles. It was threatened with attack by Turkish troops after the recapture of İzmir (Smyrna) following the Greek defeat.
