Syria Lebanon Conference Room - Cathedral of Learning - University of Pittsburgh. / This is an original 18th cenury room which was once a library in a Damascus Palace. Walls and ceilling are made of linden wood panels set off by a rich, all over gesso-painted ornamentation in colors which range from soft olive green and sombre red through Indian pink and orange. The Mihrab, a recessed wall niche, is lacquered in gold. Built-in divans covered with striped satin extend along two sides of the room. The Floor and Divan supports are made of red and white marble laid in a geometrical pattern.
