A wayside Cure All run by two Chinese Women. Notice their tiny, crushed feet. This cruel fashion is now abolished by law, and only a few of the older women are to be seen hobbling about on tortured feet.

Background: Foot binding was the custom of binding the feet of young girls painfully tight to prevent further growth.The tiny narrow feet were considered beautiful and to make a woman's movements more feminine and dainty. It was not until the early 20th century that footbinding began dying out.
