USA Old Postcard New Mexico Carlsbad Cavern, The King's Palace, Cave Stalactites

Vintage Colour Postcard, New Mexico. Cave. New Mexico, Carlsbad Cavern, The King's Palace. 765 feet underground, has been rated as the most beautiful Chamber of this underground wonderland. The floor is circular in shape, almost 200 feet in diameter, and is comparatively smooth, quite in contrast with the ceiling which is entirely covered with the various forms of stalactites, especially the sheet stalactite such as the Guillotine. On the left may be seen a stalactite and stalagmite which are now separated only by the space of a calling card and within a few years this will grow together forming a column. Data by The U.S. National Park Service. Published by Jay Leck Carlsbad N. Mex

USA Old Postcard New Mexico Carlsbad Cavern The First Spring Devil's Spring Cave

Vintage Colour Postcard, New Mexico. Cave. New Mexico, Carlsbad Cavern, The First Spring. The Devil's Spring is the first point of interest one meets when touring the Carlsbad Cavern, as it is located a short way back from the main entrance, and is an excellent illustration of how columns are formed by the drip of lime-water from the roof. While there are many springs throughout the Carlsbad Cavern the moisture of the air is such that visitors seldom get thirsty. Data by The U.S. National Park Service. Published by Jay Leck Carlsbad N.
