London - St. Giles' Cripplegate.St. Giles' Church in Cripplegate, is situated amid a pleasant oasis of green and quiet in the middle of one of London's busiest districts. The present building was erected in the 16th century to replace the original structure, destroyed by fire in 1545. In this building Oliver Cromwell was married, and his secretary, Milton, the great poet, was buried. The church contains a bust and stained glass window dedicated to the poet's memory, while a life-size statue has recently been erected close to the east door.
