Vintage Old Tuck's Oilette Art Artist Drawn Picture Postcard, London. The Tower Bridge Opening for Sailing Boat to Pass. Thames River Scene. Boats. Birds. / This gigantic building quite dwarfs the Tower of London near it. The lower bridge is a drawbridge, to let ships through, which can be raised in two minutes by means of hydraulic power. The Bridge was designed by Sir Horace Jones and Mr. Wolfe Barry, was begun in 1886, and opened by the King, then Prince of Wales, on June 30, 1894. It has already cost over a million sterling.
