Japan Expo 1910 Old Tuck's Postcard Kyomidzu Pagoda Temple Wistaria Ella Du Cane

Vintage Old Art Artist Drawn Picture Postcard. Tuck's Oilette. Souvenir Japan-British Exhibition 1910. "Flowers and Gardens of Japan" Series II. From Japan, illustrated by Ella du Cane. Wistaria Kyomidzu, Japanese Temple Pagoda, Stone Lantern. Blossoms. Blooming Tree. 紫藤.

The Pagoda, Kyomidzu. A pagoda (a Portuguese corruption of the Persian but-Kadah, Idol Temple) is originally an Indian temple. Pagodas very in height, being as much as 13 stories and sometimes having walls 13 feet thick. Some of the pagodas in Japan, which are amongst the finest edifices in the country, are very seldom open to strangers. The smaller shrines far exceed in number those of any other country of the same population and extent.
