Background: Jamaica was discovered by Christopher Columber in 1492. The English, under General Venables and Admiral Penn father of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, took it from the Spanish by conquest and Jamaica later became an Independent Nation within the British Commonwealth in 1962.
