The Russell's Scorpion Fish (Pterois russellii, Van Hass). So named in honour of Dr. Russell, the first Englishman to make a scientific study of Indian fishes, and from the extremely poisonous nature of the wounds inflicted by its long spines. Though possessing a fantastic expansion of fins it is very slow in its movements. The fins simulate the frills of the ladies' dress of the Elizabethan Age. A most fascinating fish for an Aquarium.
