Vintage Egyptian Tuck's Oilette Art Drawn Old Picture Post card. Africa Egypte Egypt. Artist Signed by Tony Binder. Ethnic Life. On The Fringe of The Desert, Camels, Donkey Rider. Pyramids in distance.

The Fringe of The Desert. Helwan, famous for its sulphur springs and fine dry climate, is surrounded on all sides by the desert sands. The Nile with its broad band of cultivation is about 3 miles from the modern town. The village of old Helwan lies among the palms near the river's bank, and every day donkeys and camels pass to and fro across the desert laden with fresh berseen (clover) water-melons, tomatoes, etc, from the lucurious crops grown in the nursery-gardens of the Nile.
