No. 2. Flute, Piper. Fire Boat. Lantern. Costumes. The Chinese in this ceremony use a number of small earthen vessels. A preparation of inflammable material is put in each. Around the tops are fastened paper imitations of flowers. These vessels are carried in a procession of priests to the nearest running water, where, being lighted, they are floated away on the water.
