Pont-y-Pair is an old stone bridge which was built across the River Llugwy during the 15th century by a native mason named Howell. The Bridge owing to its beautiful situation has formed the subject of many a painting, and its charming surroundings well warrant such a prominence being given to it. Pont-y-Pair literally means "The Bridge of the Cauldron". Betws-y-Coed is a town in the county borough of Conwy, traditional county of Caernarfonshire, north Wales. It lies in the Snowdonia region and on the River Conwy and River Llugwy.
