Broadstairs ESPLANADE Postcard CARLTON HOTEL TRAM N.49 Kent Street Scene Tramway

Modern reproduction of an Old Judges' Postcard, Bygone Times of Broadstairs, Kent. A tram stops on Broadstairs Esplanade to collect passengers from Ramsgate. The Thanet Tramway Company was established in 1901 and closed in 1937. Beyond the tram can be seen the old Victorian Bandstands, replaced by the present one in 1952. (Wrotham Road & The Carlton Hotel). The sale of the tram-lines to Germany caused a national scandal.
