Vintage Colour Old Postcard. Approx: 12.8cm x 8.9cm. This is No. 28 of a series of cards appearing in the larger packings of DE RESZKE Cigarettes and other Godfrey Philips Associated brands. Edwardian Actress Miss Elisabeth Bergner (British and Dominions). Stitching, Sewing. Elisabeth Bergner, who has been hailed as the Bernhardt of the screen, was born in August 1900 in Vienna. Has been in the theatre since she was 11, and won a great following in Germany for her work in Shakespearean repertory, etc. First film was "NYU" with Jannings, which was followed by others, all of which have been directed by Paul Czinner whom she has since married. Her two British pictures are "Catherine the Great" and "Escape me Never", in which she also made an international success on the stage.
