Background: Großglockner (German for Big Bell), with a height of 3798 m above sea level is Austria's highest mountain. It lies on the boundary between Carinthia and the East Tyrol and is the highest peak in the Glockner group, a group of mountains along the main ridge of the Hohe Tauern.
