Yorkshire Old Postcard Wharfedale - BURNSALL Loup Scar

Early Colour Postcard. Loup Scar, Burnsall, Wharfedale, Yorkshire. A scene of wild grandeur. River Wharfe flows rapidly through a cleft in the gigantic rock of limestone, after which, tossed in foaming eddies, it goes under an overhanging rock. This Scar has probably derived its name from the fact of some closely hunted stag having at some time bounded across the river from its brow - a leap wich would be fatal. National Park.

Publisher: Walter Scott C.Y. 391
Background: Burnsall is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Wharfe in Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The 2001 census gave it a population of 112.
