F. Gorguet Condition: Unused Background: DEROULEDE, PAUL (1846 ), French author and politician, was born in Paris on the 2nd of September 1846. He made his first appearance as a poet in the pages of the Revue nationale. On the outbreak of the Franco-German War he enlisted as a private, was wounded and taken prisoner at Sedan. He fought against the Commune in Paris. He published in 1872 a number of patriotic poems.
