W.C. Humour Swiss Chapel in Forest GB 1943 Old Postcard

Vintage Postcard. Typed on back : A lady in search of a quite resting place rents a cottage in Switzerland, but just after signing the agreement she remembers that she has forgotten to enquire whether that she has forgotten to enquire whether the house contains a comfortable W.C. so she writes to that effect. / W.C., thought the owner on receiving her letter. I wonder what those initials stand for, as he makes enquiries amongst his neighbours, and finally in desperation goes to the old Cure of the Village, who, after careful consideration declares that W.C. must stand for World Cappelle which means : Chapel in the Forest, so the owner well satisfied writes as follows to the Lady : - I must regret the delay in replaying to your letter, I am pleased to be able to tell you that you will not have to be without a W.C. This building is situated 5 miles from the house and right in the middle of the Forest. It can hold 250 people, and because of its Picturesque Surroundings people come from far away to it. It is open on Fridays and Sundays. Thsi might be regrettable if you are accustomed to go regularly. You will be comfortable there, as there are 60 reserved seats and also standing accommodation near the entrance, so there is enough room for the whole village. You will be pleased to learn that quite a number of people bring their meals and spend most of the day there, and others, not wanting to lose any time arrive hurriedly in their cars, just in time as they cannot wait. It is now over 6 years since my wife and I went there and it was then so full we had to stand the whole time. You can, if you wish go to the Men's side or stay in the Ladies. If I may give you advice, I suggest you go there on Sunday, because then you would be accompanied by the Organ.
