USA Old Postcard NEW MEXICO Cave Dwellings - PUYE RUINSVintage Colour Postcard, New Mexico. Cave Dwellings Puye Ruins. These Cliff houses are of the excavated type some were used as domiciles independently, altho the rule was that 2 to 4 storied houses were built against the cliff with excavatiosn for back rooms. We see the holes in which rested the timbers for roofs or ceilings, while in many cases the plaster is still upon the rock which formed the house in front. The word Pu-ye means "the assembling place of cotton-tail rabbits".Publisher: J. R. Willis C.T. Art-Colourtone
