The Palisades extend for a distance of 12 miles along the west bank of the Hudson and the view here shown is characteristic of the landscape along that course. The eastern bank of the river rising to considerable elevation is less rugged and dotted with many fine residences and parks. A splendid boulevard along the east bank of the Hudson extends to Yonkers, a busy city of nearly a hundred thousand population.
