Postally Used with Great Britain King Edward 7th 2 1/2d stamp. / Three Pitakas, or three collections of the Law of Buddhism, as determined about 250 B.C. by King Asoka, was engraved in slabs of marble and placedunder canopies. Mandalay, on the banks of the Irrawaddy, is the capital of Upper Burmah, formerly an independent State, but since 1886 under British Protection. The national religion is Buddhism, and their are in various parts of the country many beautiful pagodas, these abounding particularly in the neighbourhood of the capital.
