Vintage B/W SHIPPING Real Photo Picture Postcard, Military Vessel, H.M.S. Victory Ship. Quarterdeck, looking forward. HMS VICTORY is the oldest commissioned warship in the world, and is still manned by officers and ratings of the Royal Navy. She is now the flagship of the Second Sea Lord and Commander in Chief Naval Home Command and lies in No 2 Dry Dock at Portsmouth Naval Base, Portsmouth, England.
H.M.S. Victory was designed by Thomas Slade, the Senior Surveyor of the Navy. Her keel was laid down in Chatham on 23 July 1759 and she was launched on 7 May 1765 but was not commissioned until 1778. Once commissioned she became the most successful first rate ship ever built.

Vintage Real Photograph Shipping Picture Postcard. Men Gentlemen, Women Ladies on Board P.S. Brighton. Paddle Steamer. Steam Ship on August 12th 1908. Batten Photo No. 1. PS Brighton was built for use on the South Coast in 1878 to cope with the anticipated increase in passengers intending to visit the great Paris Exhibition. She had a top speed of 16 knots. After requisitioning in 1915 for naval service in the Eastern Mediterranean in the First World War she was sold to Turkish owners. They operated her in the Aegean until 1927, when she was broken up.
