Colour Postcard. Disaster. Wreck of the Sea venture, the sea venture was the flagship of a nine-vessel supply fleet which sailed from England in 1609, bound for the infant colony of Virginia. During a storm the Sea Venture ran aground on a reef off Bermuda. Its passengers successfully made their way to shore to pave the way for the first permanent settlement of the tiny mid-Atlantic British colony.
