Oxford, Broad Street is a picturesque thoroughfare containing many interesting buildings, among them the Sheldonian Theatre. which was erected by Sir Christopher Wren in 1664-9, at the expense of Archbishop Sheldon, then Chancellor of the University. Here the annual Commemoration and other University functions are held. The cupola on the roof of this building affords one of the finest views of Oxford obtainable.
