Background: This imposing and finely executed piece of sculpture, situated in the centre walk of the Queen's Palace, has been lent by the Royal Artillery Mess at Woolwich. It may well be regarded as an epitome of the spirit of modern war like preparation which marches hand in hand, as it were, with the progress of science.
