New Zealand Colour Picture Postcard, Gisborne, N.Z. The centre of a prosperous primary producing district. Gisborne is situated in Poverty Bay. The name Poverty Bay, originated with Captain Cook. When he discovered N.Z. after a long voyage he was unable to replenish ship's food because of the hostility of the natives.
