Background: The Nelson Column, with statue of Lord Nelson, is 145 feet high, and was erected to commemorate his glorious death, October 22, 1805. The colossal lions at the base are by Sir Edwin Landseer. The National Gallery and the Church St. Martin's in the Fields are seen in our photograph.
