The Avro Biplane. This was perhaps the first really good tractor biplane, and for its power (80 h.p. rotary motor), it is still a very efficient two-seater. It was used a good deal at the beginning of the War, especially by the Navy, for bombing raids and fighting, but is now (1918) used in large numbers as a training machine. About 1564 Walloon and Flemish refugees commenced weaving in Canterbury. In 1787 John Calloway invented beautiful muslin, but secret of manufacture died with him. Weaving disappeared at end of 18th Century. Since revival in 1896, John Calloway's method has been re-discovered, and craft housed in rooms he used in Ye Olde Weavers, which dates from A.D. 1500. / One time home of Huguenot refugees who brought the industry of weaving to Canterbury.
