Broadstairs Kent REPRO Postcard Boathouse / Bleak House

Modern reproduction of an Old Judges' Postcard, Bygone Times of Broadstairs. The boat house is over 300 years old. The figurehead of Hercules came from a brig that came ashore 16th January 1844, with that of the Highland Chief, coming from a barque of that name, lost on the Goodwins 12th February, 1869. The 2 rib bones are from a 70-ton whale washed ashore 2nd February 1762. Overlooking the harbour is the battlemented Bleak House, favorite seaside home of Charles Dikens. It was built in 1801 as Fort House, but the name was changed in 1901. Published by Judges Postcards Ltd. Hastings.
