Background: The Passo dello Stelvio (German:Stilfser Joch) is the highest paved mountain pass in Italy at 2757m, and the second highest in the Alps after the Col de l’Iseran (2770m). It is also below Col de la cime de la Bonette (2802m), which strictly speaking is not a pass since it turns around Cime de la Bonette (2860m), with a highest point at 2802m.
