Ireland 1949 Old Postcard ROSS CASTLE KILLARNEY - KerryVintage Irish Colour Picture Post card. County Co. Kerry. Ruins of Ross Castle Killarney. Co. Kerry / Ross Castle was at one time the stronghold of the O'Donoghue. It is a picturesque ivy-clad ruin, forming a conspicuous feature on Ross Island in the Lower Lake, Killarney. Originally it consisted of a massive square tower surrounded by an embattled wall, with round flanking towers at each side, and was the scene of many sieges and battles during the struggle between James II, and William III.Publisher: Valentine
