Arjumand Banu Begum who was later known as Mumtaz Mahal (meaning "elect of the palace"). It took 23 years to complete (1630 - 1653). It is a dream of Oriental splendour, fashioned as the last resting place for the "Exalted One of the Palace", the wife of Shahjahan. "If there is a heaven on earth it is this, it is this".
