Background: Sanssouci (French "without cares") is the Palace and surrounding Park built in Potsdam, Germany by Frederick the Great. The Sanssouci Palace itself was built between 1745 and 1747; Voltaire once stayed there. A number of other palaces and sites are also part of Sanssouci, including the Neues Palais (New Palace) built in the late eighteenth century in imitation of the Versailles Palace.
