Background: The Western Cwm is a place usually accessible only to mountaineers attempting Everest or one of the other peaks in the cirque. / This Mount Everest Expedition was despatched by Mount Everest Committee (MEC). The objective of the MEC was to reach the summit of Everest and research its distinctive environment.
