Ceylon Tea Centre 1955 Old Card National Temple FlowersThe Island of Ceylon. A vast variety of flowers bloom with tropical splendour in Ceylon. In the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, on the outskirts of Kandy, a glorious collection may be seen of exotic orchids, hibiscus, bourgainvillaeas, crotons, cannas, frangipani etc. Palm Trees are, of course, a feature of the Ceylon scene and in Peradeniya, the famous Palm Avenue contains such specimens as the Kitual, Royal Cabbage and the giant Talipot palms. Shown overleaf is the national flower of Ceylon, the frangipani known as the Temple flower.
